SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 ~ JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE CHRONOLOGICALLY

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 READINGS...Daniel 10:1-12:13 & Ezra 4:24-5:1 & Haggai 1:1-15

Daniel’s long ministry comes to an end. The Lord gives him one more vision giving more specific information of what He had already given Daniel. The vision starts with the time that it was given to Daniel, under the Medes and Persians. Then it speaks of the coming Greek empire. Followed by the divided kingdom of Alexander to his four generals. He speaks of the conflicts and alliances that would come about. And he speaks of the “mighty one” who would rise. Daniels vision ends with a prophecy of the end of time, when wickedness will run rampant and people will not be able to understand truth or goodness. We find ourselves rapidly entering that time. John picks up where Daniel ends…and we find ourselves on the precipice of the judgment of God falling on this earth. Keep your eyes on the Lord…stay faithful…be strong in Jesus!

The second part of our reading happened back in Judah. The people had stopped rebuilding the Temple and had begun to focus only on their own luxurious homes. The Lord raised up the prophet Haggai to call the people back to the proper priorities. His words inspired Zerubbabel to once akin start the Temple project. Though it would be nothing like Solomon’s Temple…it still needed to be built…it still needed to be a priority. This passage shows how powerful the Word of the Lord is…it strengthens, it corrects, it motivates, and it sets things in their proper place.

Please share you thoughts on today’s reading.
