AUGUST 5 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 6

The grace of God is not merely a theological concept to be understood intellectually or religiously…it is to be lived each and every day. We need to be careful not to receive, or continue receiving the Lord’s grace in vain. When the Lord pours out His grace, we need to receive it, and walk in it. This life is filled with all kinds of things that can knock us off our feet, we desperately need God’s grace in order to live in this sin fallen world.

As we live in God’s grace we are called to be holy. The word holy means to be separate or separated for God’s purpose. Paul tells us not to be unequally yoke together with unbelievers. To be yoked is to be tied…in a yoke the two literally become one, for the yoke makes them work as one. Two that are unequal cannot ever work properly as one. Paul reminds us of this truth through asking several rhetorical questions…what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness…what communion has light with darkness…what accord has Christ with Belial…what part has a believer with an unbeliever…and what agreement has the temple of God with idols? The obvious answer for all these questions is, none. So, we are commanded to come out from the world and be holy…we are not to touch any unclean thing, and we are not to join ourselves with the world.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
