Find Your Contentment In Jesus

So much is happening all around us.  It seems like we are in a time of real testing concerning our ability to be a content people in the midst of so much discontentment.  Paul said, "...For I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content..." Philippians 4:11 and then in verse 13 follows this thought with, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".  Much of the discontentment found in our lives is a result of a false philosophy that we must always be happy and the only thing that will bring happiness is to get our own way.  As I have observed those who are spoiled in always getting their own way, that they are never content in anything.  They get what they want, find it does not meet their need, then they go on to their next "mission" searching for that which they will never find apart from a life surrendered to Jesus.  We are not promised happiness in all things, but we can surely experience the joy of Christ in all things.  Nobody ever gets their own way in everything, and many times those who seek it are more concerned that others do things to make it possible rather than looking to see if the problem lies within them.  With all the discontentment around us in the world we live in, let's determine to be like Paul and find our contentment in Christ who is our strength.  Let's be careful to first look within and what the Spirit is saying to us, before we look at others and blame them for our situation.
